
Forecoming: National Conference “Successful practices and models for overcoming discrimination in education”
Center “Amalipe” organizes National Conference “Successful practices and models for overcoming discrimination in education”. It will discuss the current state and challenges of Roma equality, inclusion and participation with accent on education and the contribution of EU funds, EEA Grants, Swiss contribution, etc. It will be held on 08.04.2025 from 10:00 to 16:00 at the Grand Hotel Sofia, Sofia, Bulgaria. Online participation will be available (after registration).
Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the National Council for Cooperation on Ethnic and Integration Issues Atanas Zafirov, ambassadors from the Group of Ambassadors on Roma Issues, representatives of the European Commission, national institutions involved in the fight against discrimination, Ministry of Education and others will participate in the forum. It will raise ideas for extensive EU Roma policy taking into account the present global challenges and the need of stronger European Union. In addition, the forum will present the results of the initiative “Human Rights: Educate, Inspire, Change!”, implemented by Amalipe Center, numerous Youth Groups for Civic Participation and Tolerance, educational mediators, teachers, Regional Education Departments and other institutions.
The National Conference is organized on the International Roma Day April 8.
OBJECTIVES:
- Strengthening the political commitment for implementing Bulgarian National Roma Strategic Framework with accent on anti-discrimination, desegregation and improving access to and the quality of education;
- Discussing ideas for better use of European Funds, EEA and Swiss contribution for Roma policy;
- Presentation of the main results of the initiative “Human Rights: Educate, Inspire, Change!”: types of cases of discrimination, concrete solutions, etc;
- Establishing a national mechanism of cooperation between the main institutions responsible for preventing and protecting against discrimination in education (such as the Ministry of Education, the Ombudsman, the CPD, etc.) with civil society organisations.
