Students from the Network “Every student will be a winner” participated in an informational meeting to increase civic activity and continue education, organized by the “Amalipe” Center and the University of Economics – Varna

On 04.06.2024, at the initiative of the “Amalipe” Center, students from “Lyuben Karavelov” Secondary School, Varna and “Vasil Levski” Secondary School, Devnya visited the University of Economics – Varna. The discussion took place in room 223 in the central building of the university. The students were welcomed by Prof. Dr. Vladimir Dosev, Deputy Rector for Student Policies and Digitalization, Prof. Dr. Nedyalko Valkanov, Prof. Dr. Ilian Minkov, Deputy Dean, Prof. Dr. Yanka Alexandrova and Prof. Dr. Valentina McNee. The purpose of the meeting was to raise the awareness of students regarding the possibilities of applying to the university, but also the students in the 11th and 12th grades who have just received or are about to receive the right to vote for the first time, about the role and the democratic values ​​of the EU, the European institutions and their powers, the rights they acquire when they reach adulthood and the many opportunities they will have.

Excited, the students began their visit with a tour of the campus, where they saw auditoriums, a career center, and the Student Council office.

Associate Professor Dr. Dosev introduced them to the history of the university, after which the professors introduced them to the faculties and the studied disciplines and specialties, as well as opportunities for specialization in Europe and Erasmus projects.

Ekaterina Yosifova gave a lecture on education and the opportunities available to students at the University of Economics. She gave examples of successful implementation of students, including those from other countries who graduated from the university. Students asked questions related to disciplines, admissions and candidate exams. They were interested in the possibilities of a successful ranking, as well as in the Olympiads held by the university.

After the meeting, the young people not only got to know the university environment closely and could see themselves as future students of the institution, but also realized that they, through their right to vote and choose, can change their lives and the world. in which they live.
