One hundred and thirty-nine are the young people from all over the country, who were supported by the Center for Interethnic Dialogue and Tolerance “Amalipe” in the school year 2019-2020. in completing their secondary education by purchasing bus transport tickets and textbooks. At the end of the second term, 20 of them received tablets under the Program so that they could be actively involved in distance learning. For another 20 students who were not at the beginning of the Equal Chance Program, but also found themselves without devices and the opportunity to buy them, we provided tablets. Thus, the total number of students who received support through Equal Chance at the end of the year turned out to be 159. The program is long-term, it was started in 2011. and is funded by the Trust for Social Achievement Foundation.
The students come from poor families, live in villages and small towns and attend secondary and vocational schools in large cities. In order to keep boys and girls in school, the Amalipe Center helps them not only by covering transport costs and providing textbooks, but also by involving them in youth volunteering. Supported persons are required to attend regular school, have an average grade of at least Good, and engage in extracurricular activities.
During the first term, the average grade of TSA-supported students was a very good 4.82. And the average number of unexcused absences was 3.1.
During the second term, the unexcused absences are 0.91, and the average grade point average is Very Good 4.79. The annual average grade point is 4.89. Fifty-two of the students do not have any absences for disrespectful reasons for the whole year. There are forty-three excellent students, and four of them – Margarit Taskov, Nancy Marianova, Raya Harizanova and Tanya Iliyanova have 6.00 success. The high school graduates showed good results at their graduation exams and successfully completed their secondary education.
We are extremely proud of the success of all students! Apart from the good grades in their notebooks, they are characterized by high activity. Many of them are either chairmen or part of the student parliaments of their schools; they are active in extracurricular activities, participate in various competitions and develop their talents and gifts.
