Upcoming: training for teachers in Folklore of Ethnic Groups – Roma folklore
Center for Interethnic Dialogue and Tolerance “Amalipe” will hold a training seminar for teachers who will teach “Folklore of Ethnic Groups in Bulgaria – Roma Folklore” (in the form of a FCH or other extracurricular activity). The training will be held from November 7 to 9, 2025 at the Meridian Bolyarski Hotel (Veliko Tarnovo 5000, Stefan Stambolov Str. № 53 A, https://www.bolyarski.com/)
The training program on “Folklore of Ethnic Groups – Roma Folklore” was approved by Order No. RD09-89/16.01.2020 and Order RD09-2553/11.03.2022 of the Ministry of Education and Science and is entered in the information register of approved training programs for improving the qualifications of pedagogical specialists (IROPK) of the Ministry of Education and Science, in accordance with Art. 229 of the Preschool and School Education Act.
The program is based on the experience of the schools from the Amalipe Center network “Every Student Will Be an Excellent Student”, developed for more than 20 years in over 300 schools in the country. Its goal is to contribute to a multicultural environment that is welcoming and stimulating, so that every child, regardless of their ethnicity, is motivated to learn and succeed. Over the past years, the “Folklore of Ethnicities – Roma Folklore” Program has proven to be extremely successful in introducing civic education and inclusion of children from different ethnicities, especially in mixed schools, as well as in motivating Roma children and parents to be active participants in the educational process.
This year, the program enters a new experimental phase, which will include increased creation and use of digital elements and the application of STEM approaches. It will further develop those elements in the program that are aimed at introducing civic education and the formation of values and could be embedded in the new subject offered in the ZID of the ZPUO.
Classes in Folklore of Ethnic Groups – Roma Folklore can be taught as a FUCH, extracurricular activity, interest activities or be integrated into interest activities in the CEC, as well as into the subjects of the main program. The training can include educators, as well as educational mediators, psychologists, parents and other external experts who will be engaged (if the classes are conducted as interest activities).
Teachers included in the training will receive 2 qualification credits.
