Successful Training in Veliko Tarnovo Strengthened the Capacity of Educational Mediator Coordinators
On February 27–28, a specialized training for educational mediators and regional coordinators was held in Veliko Tarnovo, aimed at strengthening their capacity to work effectively with parents and local communities.
The training covered key topics such as effective communication with parents, facilitating discussions on issues related to democracy and freedom, countering disinformation, and empowering communities. Participants developed practical skills for conducting constructive dialogue, building trust, and encouraging active civic participation.
A special emphasis was placed on the role of mediator coordinators as mentors. They received support to take on a more active mentoring role by assisting their colleagues—educational mediators and social workers—through sharing experience, jointly organizing parent meetings, and disseminating good practices. Rather than focusing primarily on administrative tasks, coordinators were encouraged to work toward strengthening the real impact of mediators’ activities on local communities.
The training contributed to strengthening the professional network of mediators and coordinators and to building a more sustainable partnership between schools, parents, and local communities.
The activity is funded by the European Union within the framework of the project “Roma Civil Society Organizations in Support of the Values of the European Union” (ROVA), coordinated in Bulgaria by the Integro Association.
