“Intercultural education is aimed at assimilating knowledge about different dimensions of cultural identities and basic characteristics of intercultural relationships, forming a positive attitude towards diversity in all areas of human life, as well as skills and attitudes for constructive interactions in a multicultural environment.” (State Educational Standard for Civic… and Intercultural Education)

Intercultural education is one of the leading aspects in which the Bulgarian education system needs to be modernized to meet the needs of those targeted at it – children and their parents. Intercultural education is an education aimed both at minority children and those from the majority with the primary purpose of forming mutual knowledge, tolerance and friendship among all students.

The Amalipe Center approach binds practically educational integration, prevention of dropping out of school and improving the quality of education and educational outcomes of Roma children with the introduction of intercultural education. We are implementing this approach with the hundreds of schools and kindergartens that are our partners in bringing about a real change in the lives of thousands of children and their parents.

Our partners can count on the support we provide through highly qualified professionals, including our regional pedagogical coordinators, who work in all regions of the country.

The support we provide is for:

· Introduction of classes on Ethnic Folklore – Roma Folklore – such as freely selectablе classes , extracurricular activities, etc.

· Teacher training in intercultural knowledge and skills

· Methodological support for the implementation of comprehensive dropout programs

· Technical assistance to schools for the preparation and implementation of projects aimed at introducing intercultural education and educational integration.
