The educational mediator Stefan Stefanov from Bulgaria performed the Roma anthem in front of the president of the Czech Republic during an international meeting to combat disinformation
The educational mediator at the “St. St. Cyril and Methodius” elementary school in the village of Batak, Stefan Stefanov, played the Romany hymn “Dzhelem Dzhelem” in front of the President of the Czech Republic, Mr. Petar Pavel. This happened during a partnership meeting between Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Spain and Hungary, held at the Roma Museum in the city of Brno.
At the partnership meeting held in Brno, representatives of Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Spain presented current results of a project to combat disinformation in their countries. Each team shares their successes from meeting with local communities, emphasizing the importance of information and working together in the fight against fake news and manipulated information.
In the course of the discussions, key initiatives and good practices implemented at the local level were highlighted. The participants express confidence that the continued cooperation between the countries will contribute to the effective handling of the challenges related to disinformation and to the construction of a more informed society.
One of the significant events during the meeting was the visit to the Hodonin concentration camp, as well as the visit to the Museum of Roma Culture in Brno. These places not only tell about the difficult history of the Roma community, but also remind about the importance of awareness and education as a means of reducing hatred and manipulation.
The project is implemented with the support of the Program for Equality, Rights and Values of the European Commission (CERV-2022-CITIZENS-CIV).
