Amalipe Center and Zonta Club – Stara Zagora announce a competition on the topic ‘Girls with dreams: turn the page’

“If you educate a boy, you educate only him.

If you educate a girl, you educate the whole community. “

HE Florence Robin, Ambassador of the French Republic to Bulgaria

Unfortunately, today there are still girls who do not even know how to dream. They have many barriers – some of them are set by traditions, some – by the community in which they live, and some are set by themselves. The topic of early marriage has always provoked discussions – both in the community and among the majority. And it is always shrouded in stereotypes and prejudices – both in the community and among the majority. Very often the topic is used for political campaigns, opposition and stigmatization.

Today, traditions are no longer what they used to be. Increasingly, those who start living together are not the parents, but the children themselves. And very often all these girls and boys just need someone to believe in them, to make them believe in themselves and see that change is possible if they want it hard enough! But how do we convince them of this?

This is best done by you, dear students, because your messages will be most easily understood by your peers. And we at Amalipe Center will support you:

  1. Your messages to reach over 290 schools from the “Every student will be excellent” network and beyond and give hope to dozens of girls and boys;
  2. Your messages should reach the people on whom the policies in Bulgaria depend and they should help the society to stop looking condemningly and pointing a finger at all those girls and boys who did not know how to dream. Moreover, we will meet with these people so that you can discuss face to face exactly how change could happen and where it should start;
  3. Create a support network with each other that gives hope and help to those in need
