Coming soon: Inter-school debate on “IT IS IMPORTANT TO VOTE IN THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT ELECTIONS”
“Amalipe” Center is starting a new initiative for inter-school debates, which will be organized and held together with youth groups for tolerance and civic participation.
The first debate will be on May 9, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. in the Conference Hall of Traiko Simeonov Secondary School. The teams of the schools Traiko Simeonov Secondary School, Shumen and Vocational High School of Agriculture and Food Technology, Shumen, will engage in a debate on the topic “It is important to vote in the elections for the European Parliament”.
The objectives of the debates are:
- To develop the skills of young people to present a reasoned statement and defend it; to attract arguments to overthrow the opposing side
- to show young people the culture of meaningful, constructive and evidence-based public debate on key public policies – how to conduct a debate in which participants defend these and present substantive arguments without violating personal dignity.
- To increase civic activity and awareness among young people, especially young people from remote settlements, about the importance of European Parliament elections and their participation in them.
Through the inter-school debates, an increase in the activity and participation in the European Parliament elections of young people and the Roma community will be achieved, providing the necessary tools and motivation to participate in the political processes of the European Union, striving to build greater awareness and commitment among these groups.
The inter-scholl debate is part of the project “EMPOWEREU: Fostering participation of youth and vulnerable groups in the EU elections” funded by the European Parliament.
