Happy first day of school! An unconventional wish

Dear children and teenagers,

Dear parents and teachers,

HAPPY NEW SCHOOL YEAR! HAPPY FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL !

Dear students,

The year has 365 days, and each of them is worth celebrating, but today is especially special. Because it turns another page, leading us to the enlightenment and magic of knowledge. You will have friends to overcome difficulties together, to become more knowledgeable and happier, you will face disappointments, but you will also find satisfaction in standing up for yourself and good causes. We wish you to acquire the most important life skills, to find friends, and to be happy! Be tolerant of all children, from all ethnicities and cultures, because they all contribute to the beauty of your school, town/village, and our common homeland Bulgaria.

Dear teachers and principals,

Be healthy and continue to embody the Renaissance word “Awakener”, because the truest teachers are those who manage to teach their students not just numbers and facts, but to dream, to think, to be civically active, and to want to change the world around them for the better!

Dear educational mediators,

The community (both pedagogical and parental) relies on you to continue building bridges, to motivate, and to spark enthusiasm. In the past year, together we achieved sustainable funding for the salaries of 1260 educational mediators, your work is now recognized as a profession, and it is part of the collective labor agreement – alongside teachers and the entire staff.

We at CENTER AMALIPE will continue through the Intercultural Education Network “Every student will be a winner” to support schools’ efforts to minimize student dropouts, motivate them to complete their education, develop pride in their identity and tolerance, and foster civic active students. In the past school year, 98.54% of students who completed primary education in the network schools continued to 8th grade, 56.15% of the schools had no dropouts, educational mediators returned over 900 students to the classrooms, and prevented 178 early marriages…

We are confident that in the new school year, the schools in the Network and the educational mediators will achieve even higher results! Because enlightenment leads “to the light,” as the Bulgarian language teaches us.

GOOD LUCK!

Center “Amalipe” is a non-governmental organization that for more than 22 years has supported schools across the country in reducing dropout rates, dealing with early marriages, reaching tens of thousands of Roma parents, and increasing their motivation for education. As an independent civic organization, Center Amalipe manages to address important systemic issues that are beyond the capacity of individual participants, such as support for small (rural) schools, the introduction of the position of educational mediators, and more.
