Informational meeting of young people with professors from Plovdiv University “Paisiy Hilendarski”: How to participate in the upcoming elections for the European Parliament

“Amalipe” Center organizes together with Plovdiv University “Paisiy Hilendarski” an informational meeting of young people with teachers in an academic environment, which will be held on 13.12.2023 at 1:30 p.m. in Auditorium 2 in the Rector’s building of the university. Participants in the meeting will be students from the 11th and 12th grades, young people who wish to continue their education at a university, as well as representatives of Plovdiv University “Paisiy Hilendarski”.

The meeting will be attended by students from the 11th and 12th grades who will soon become/have reached the age of majority and will accordingly be able to exercise their right to vote in the upcoming EP elections in 2024, as well as representatives of PU “Paisiy Hilendarski” (lecturers from the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences – Political Science, International Politics and Business Diplomacy, Public Administration).

The main objectives of the meeting are to raise the awareness of students from vulnerable groups studying in grades 11 and 12, who have just received or are about to receive the right to vote for the first time, about the role and democratic values of the EU, the European institutions and their powers. During the information meetings, teachers will explain to the participants in detail the importance of civic activity in the democratic process at the national and supranational level, the functioning of the EP, the decision-making process in the EU and the importance of voting.

The aim of the initiative is for young people to be familiar with the academic environment and atmosphere at the university and to be motivated, after completing their secondary education and successfully passing the DZI, to apply to the relevant university.

The informational meeting with young people and professors from universities is the first of a series of meetings that the “Amalipe” Center organizes in connection with the upcoming elections for the European Parliament. The meeting is part of the activities of the “EmpowerEU: Fostering Participation of youth and vulnerable groups in the EU elections” project.
