Informational meeting of young people with professors from the University of Economics – Varna
“Amalipe” Center organizes together with the University of Economics – Varna an informational meeting of young people with teachers in an academic environment, which will be held on 04.06.2024 at 10:00 a.m. in hall 223. Participants in the meeting will be students from 10, 11 and 12th grade, young people who wish to continue their education at a university, as well as representatives of the University of Economics – Varna.
The meeting will be attended by 11th and 12th grade students who will soon become/have reached the age of majority and will accordingly be able to exercise their right to vote in the upcoming EP elections in 2024, as well as representatives of the University of Economics – Varna (Assoc. Dr. Vladimir Dosev, Deputy Rector for Student Policies and Digitalization, Assoc. Dr. Nedyalko Valkanov, Assoc. Dr. Ilian Minkov, Deputy Dean, Assoc. Dr. Yanka Alexandrova)
The main objectives of the meeting are to raise the awareness of students from vulnerable groups studying in grades 11 and 12, who have just received or are about to receive the right to vote for the first time, about the role and democratic values of the EU, the European institutions and their powers. During the information meetings, teachers will explain to the participants in detail the importance of civic activity in the democratic process at the national and supranational level, the functioning of the EP, the decision-making process in the EU and the importance of voting.
The aim of the initiative is for young people to be familiar with the academic environment and atmosphere at the university and to be motivated, after completing their secondary education and successfully passing the state matriculation exams, to apply to the relevant university.
