Nikolay Ognyanov was selected as Educational Mediator of the Year

The Grand Prize “Educational Mediator of the Year” was awarded by Acad. Nikolay Denkov, Minister of Education and Science, to Nikolay Ognyanov, Educational Mediator at the Secondary School ,,Hristo Smirnenski”, the town of. Gulyantsi, Gulyantsi municipality, Pleven region. Nikolay has been an educational mediator for 5 years. Every day he goes around more than 9 villages to the municipality, motivating parents to let their children go to school, bringing declarations, homework and devices for the children who are studying in the ORES. In addition, he helps all children who have difficulty using the various distance learning platforms. Nikolai Ognyanov delivers hot lunches to homes every day as well as food items to people who are in need. He won the grand prize after 1,299 people voted for him on Amalipe Center’s social networks. All nominated participants also received awards as follows:

 

Mira Stefanova – educational mediator in Pobeda village at the United School “Dobri Voinikov” received an 

award for “Empowering Roma women”. Even before becoming an educational mediator, she has organized charity and donation campaigns in villages of Dobrich region. She is recognized in the community and has great trust from the locals, especially parents. In addition, Mira Stefanova was awarded a plaque and certificate by the Mayor of Dobrich Municipality back in December 2021. A total of 1185 people voted for Mira Stefanova in the social networks of Center “Amalipe”.

 

A special award for charity and advocacy was given to Fatme Arslan – Educational Mediator at “Gotse Delchev” Professional High School of Dance Sport and Construction Technologies in Plovdiv. As an educational mediator she fights for the success of every child. People recognize her as the Good Samaritan because she does various campaigns, such as collecting clothes for needy families and distributing them. She also does charity initiatives through which she has made many families happy, and on more than a few occasions she has used her personal funds to do so. Fatme works with over 400 students in school. She tries every day to bring back to school the children who are systematically absent. A total of 644 people have voted for Fatme Arslan in the social networks of Center “Amalipe”.

 

Award for field work and achieving dialogue deserved Tihomir Georgiev, educational mediator at the United school ” St. St. Cyril and Methodius Educational Center in Kravoder village, Krivodol municipality.
The whole community in Krivodol municipality knows him as a community uniter. He participates in various campaigns related to educational integration and human rights. People in the village constantly look to him for anything no matter the time, whether it is day or night, he is always ready to help. Tihomir Georgiev has been voted for by a total of 340 people in the social networks of Center “Amalipe”.

 

Georgi Shabanov, Educational Mediator at “Trayko Simeonov” Secondary School in Shumen was awarded as a young “awakener and inspirer”. He graduated from Shumen University – ” Episcop Konstantin Preslavski”, specialty Social Pedagogy. Georgi works daily in the field, visiting students’ homes. Together with the student parliament he organizes charity campaigns and constantly works with children who are at risk of dropping out of school. George is recognized and respected by the entire Shumen community. A total of 266 people have voted for Georgi Shabanov in the social networks of Center “Amalipe”.

 

In addition to the five finalists, all nominated candidates who did not make it to the finals received certificates. They received a certificate of nomination in the first national competition “Educational mediator of the year” for 2021. The certificates were awarded by Deyan Kolev, chairman of the center “Amalipe” on:

 

  • Selime Aliyeva, Educational Mediator at Yordan Yovkov Primary School, Krasen village, General Toshevo Municipality, Dobrich Region.
  • Veska Abadzhieva, Educational Mediator at the Primary School ” St. St. Cyril and Methodius, Nova Cherna village, Silistra district.
  • Gergana Hristova Yanakieva Educational mediator at St. St. Cyril and Methodius, Ihtiman town, Ihtiman municipality, Sofia region.
  • Leman Asan, educational mediator at the Otets Paisii Primary School, Stefan Karadja village, Silistra district.
  • Tashka Mutafova, educational mediator at Hristo Botev Primary School, village of Kukorevo, Plovdiv region.

The Deputy Prime Minister for Climate Policies and Minister of Environment and Water Borislav Sandov, who was also a guest at the celebration, presented a special prize for strengthening and developing the network of educational mediators to:

Stefan Stefanov, Educational Mediator at Amalipe Center; Irena Mihaylova, Educational Mediator at Amalipe Center; Boycho Kochov, Educational Mediator at Vasil Levski Primary School, Karadzhovo village, Plovdiv region; Aldin Stefanov, Educational Mediator at Amalipe Center; Larisa Antonova, Educational Mediator at Hristo Botev Primary School, Byala Slatina, Vratsa Region; Angel Angelov, Educational Mediator at PGSSHT, Shumen and Zlatina Pamukova from Kotel.

The Network of Educational Mediators is an non-formal network established by Center Amalipe with the support of the Trust for Social Achievement to support educational mediators through the provision of information, training and capacity building. Within the network, monthly meetings are organized to inform mediators about current events, increase their capacity, knowledge and skills for outreach work and provide them with information about programme opportunities; exchange experiences and good practices, discuss topical issues.
