Over 100 mediators united for better education at a national training in Dryanovo
From 15 to 17 November 2024 in Park Hotel “Dryanovo” was held a National Training of Educational Mediators, organized by the Center for Interethnic Dialogue and Tolerance “Amalipe”. The event brought together mediators from different localities, who have an essential role in ensuring equal access to education and social integration for vulnerable groups.
The training was opened by Ms. Dilyana Djedjeva, Deputy Mayor of Dryanovo Municipality,
who welcomed the participants and stressed the importance of their work. She expressed her support for the efforts aimed at increasing educational opportunities for all children and young people.
The Chairman of Center “Amalipe” Mr. Deyan Kolev presented up-to-date information on the opportunities for funding the position of “educational mediator” through funds for vulnerable groups. He explained key aspects of the project “Success for You”, outlining the next steps for its successful implementation.
The training program included various thematic sessions led by experts from Amalipe. Teodora Krumova, Atanas Atanasov and Valeri Angelov provided valuable guidance for
effective outreach, organizing campaigns for tolerance and prevention of early marriages. Particular attention was paid to approaches for tackling discrimination and promoting social integration.
Practical activities were an essential part of the training. One group of mediators visited the Roma neighborhood “Izgrev” in Dryanovo, where they met with Roma families to learn about their needs and challenges. Another group organised a campaign on the occasion of the International Day of Tolerance – 16 November, in the centre of Dryanovo, demonstrating how successful public engagement initiatives are carried out.
At the end of the training, participants received certificates marking their participation and commitment.
“This training is a key step towards building a more inclusive learning environment and social tolerance. Mediators are a bridge between schools, families and communities and their role is of utmost importance,” said Mr. Deyan Kolev.
The event not only increased the capacity of the participants, but also provided an opportunity to exchange experiences and good practices that will contribute to sustainable positive changes in the education system.
