Peer Education Training: First Topic for the New School Year – Identity, Roma Groups, and Roma Pride

On September 27, 2024, Center Amalipe organized the first online training session for the new school year for youth interested in becoming peer educators. Around 50 young participants from schools across the country joined the event, which took place on Zoom.

The training aimed to introduce the first topic prepared by the organization for the upcoming year: “Identity, Roma Groups, and Roma Pride.” This topic will be central to the trainings that the youth will conduct in their schools. During the session, Teodora Krumova presented the theoretical part, explaining the importance of understanding identity and cultural differences. Denitsa Ivanova shared useful practices and tools that the participants can use to make their training more effective and engaging.

In addition, more experienced peer educators shared their stories and reflected on the challenges and successes they encountered during last year’s trainings.

This session not only provided knowledge and skills but also helped the youth understand the importance of passing on these lessons to their peers. Participants who will lead trainings on this topic are encouraged to share their impressions and photos from their sessions in the “Center Amalipe – Student Leadership Program” group.

We hope this training will inspire all participants to stay active and engage fully in the upcoming initiatives!

The training was carried out within the framework of the project “Intercultural academy for civic participation and tolerance,” which is implemented with the support of the U.S. State Department through the U.S. Embassy in Bulgaria.
