UNICEF’s support in Bulgaria for the introduction of distance learning in a pandemic also includes a fund for the most vulnerable families, through which disinfectants, masks and gloves were purchased. It does not include the purchase of food. The packages were distributed through mediators from the Amalipe Center and partner NGOs working in the field in Roma neighborhoods across the country. One of the first settlements where packages of disinfectants, masks and gloves were distributed was the town of Shabla, where the educational mediator – Velika Ivanova did her best and reached the most needy families. Velika says that the families who received the packages of disinfectants, masks and gloves are grateful because they really could not afford to buy them. It is now most important for them to provide their children with basic necessities, everything else is left in the background. Thanks to the joint work, as partners of Shabla municipality under the project “Socio-economic integration for vulnerable people”, today we can be useful and reach the most needy families.
