Students from the “Every student will be a winner” Network took part in an information meeting to increase civic activity and continue education, organized by the “Amalipe” Center and Konstantin Preslavsky University of Shumen

More than 40 girls and boys participated in a meeting of Shumen University “Konstantin Preslavski” on the initiative of Amalipe Center. All of them – students from the 10th, 11th and 12th grades were welcomed by the vice-rector Assoc. Dr. Konstantin Konstantinovi, representatives of the Faculty of Humanities, the Faculty of Natural Sciences, the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics and the Faculty of Technical Sciences.

Prof. Konstantinov introduced the guests in detail to the opportunities that Shumen University provides to its graduates. The students became interested in the ways of applying, specific majors, as well as the professional qualifications they provide. They didn’t bother to ask about Erasmus+, scholarships, dormitories, etc. details important to them.

Silvia Stancheva, a former graduate of the higher education institution, shared about the good level of knowledge it provides and the high chances of realization afterwards.

The aim of the meeting was to raise the awareness of 11th and 12th grade

students who have just received or are about to receive the right to vote for the first time, about the role and democratic values of the EU, the European institutions and their powers . The lecturers explained to the participants in detail the importance of civic activity in the democratic process at the national and supranational level, the functioning of the EP, the decision-making process in the EU and the importance of voting.

After visiting the Application Center, the group moved to the Faculty of Pedagogy, where in the Assembly Hall they had the opportunity to learn a lot about the specialties offered by the Faculty from the presentation of Prof. Dr. Rositsa Petrova Mihailova – Dean of the Faculty of Pedagogy.

After that, everyone had a familiarization walk in the building, where they were able to feel the atmosphere of the different departments even more closely.

Although it is several years before it is time for some of the youth to apply, this information will help them make informed decisions about their future.

After the meeting, the young people not only got to know the university environment closely and could see themselves as future students of the institution, but also realized that they, through their right to vote and choose, can change their lives and the world. in which they live.
