Students greeted on the occasion of Vasilitsa institutions in Veliko Tarnovo

For the 13th year in a row Center Amalipe organizes celebrations on the occasion of Vasilitsa. And although in the pandemic conditions the live events were not large-scale, we decided to congratulate some of the most important institutions in Veliko Tarnovo with the help of the children from the schools in the district that are part of the network “Every student will be a winner”.

On January 12th we opened the visits on the occasion of Vasilitsa at 10.00 am in the District Administration, where students from P. Р. Slaveykov” village Dzhulyunitsa congratulated the team of the institution on the occasion of the Roma New Year. The little survakars had prepared a reenactment of old Roma customs, which included calls for health and success. The children and their leaders surprised the governor with a pie with good luck. The pupils gave a health greeting to Lyudmila Ilieva, Governor of the District, and to Stanislav Nikolov and Gabriela Shilkova, Deputy Governors. The children were given bags of sweets, fruit and money.

In the presence of the regional coordinator of the Center “Amalipe”, Galina Decheva, the beautiful forest flowers – the students from the Secondary School “Ivan Momchilov”, Elena, greeted their hosts from Veliko Tarnovo Municipality, in the persons of Deputy Mayor Snezhana Daneva-Ivanova and the directors of the educational and social and health directorates Penka Ignatova and Rositsa Dimitrova, with the traditional Roma song in its Bulgarian version “Wonderful forest flower”. The little survakar from the Elena school called all present for health and prosperity, for the year to be healthy and the municipality to have prosperity and success in the coming challenging year. With a smile and charged with emotions, the students promised, if possible next year, to take part in a festive concert, as the Center “Amalipe” organized for the ethno-cultural holiday “Vasilitsa”, so that the day would be truly festive and the celebration even more exciting. Looking forward to the current year, the hosts from Veliko Tarnovo Municipality were also invited to the annual Children’s Roma Festival “Open Heart”, which takes place in the heart of Veliko Tarnovo, under the June rays of the summer sun in the park “Marno pole”.

Amalipe Center helped students from St. Kliment Ohridski” from the town of Suhindol to present a series of folk dances, with which they congratulated their host – the head of the Regional Department of Education – Veliko Tarnovo Eng. Rozalia Licheva on the occasion of Vasilitsa. Their head – Gergana Dimitrova invited Mrs. Licheva, as well as employees of the Regional Education Department – Veliko Tarnovo to join in the dances, as the right choro, which they played, created a bridge between generations and ethnicities, united the participants and was the reason why the celebrated Vasilitsa – the Roma New Year, ended with laughter, smiles and warmth.
