The conversation that changes education”: A regional meeting was held in Veliko Tarnovo

On April 9, 2024, in one of the symbolic cities of culture and education in Bulgaria, the city of Veliko Tarnovo, a regional meeting of educational mediators was held. Hotel “Panorama” hosted an event that not only united these key figures in education, but also revealed many innovative ideas and opportunities for the future of the educational process.

Greetings: The meeting began with greetings from Mrs. Lidiya Prokopova, senior expert on the organization of secondary education in the Regional Department of Education – Veliko Tarnovo. Her words not only emphasized the importance of the presence of educational mediators, but also inspired them to continue their indispensable role as a bridge between educational institutions and the community.

Financial Mechanisms and Challenges: The Chairman of the Amalipe Center, Mr. Deyan Kolev, presented a variety of financing mechanisms for educational mediators, emphasizing the importance of their work and the challenges they face.

“Network of Educational Mediators”: Mr. Atanas Atanasov presented the “Network of Educational Mediators”, revealing to the participants the exciting prospects for cooperation and development within the framework of this initiative.

Working with vulnerable groups: The program director of Amalipe Center, Mrs. Teodora Krumova, shared her knowledge and experience on ways to work with vulnerable groups, which not only broadened the participants’ horizons, but also armed them with tools for more effective interaction with these communities.

Future campaigns and trainings: Valeri Angelov ended the meeting with a presentation of the various upcoming campaigns by the Amalipe Center, as well as the plans for organizing trainings by educational mediators for parents on topics related to the European Union and European institutions, such as the one that held the most -many trainees will have the opportunity to visit the parliament in Brussels as a reward.

The meeting of educational mediators in the city of Veliko Tarnovo not only brought together professionals in the field of education, but also became a platform for the exchange of ideas and inspiration for the future of education in Bulgaria. This event proved that education is not only in schools but also in the hearts and minds of the community as a whole. The educational mediator is not just a part of the education system, it is the key to building a stronger and more inclusive community. Its role is essential to achieving the goals of equal access to education and opportunities for all. It reminds us that diversity is our wealth and inclusion is our strength. In light of this, let us value and support the efforts of educational mediators because they are the drivers of change and the builders of a better tomorrow for our children and society as a whole. This meeting represents the first of a total of six regional meetings of the educational mediators to be held.
