Amalipe Center helped a Ukrainian girl to study online with a donation from the Old devices for a new beginning campaign
In the last month, Bulgarians have shown and proved that they are a compassionate people. So many social media groups, campaigns and volunteers are helping Ukrainian refugees. Whether with a donation from a lev or an apartment, or even with a kind word or help in seeking information – it does not matter, help is important and reminds us how big our hearts are. We all help so that this scary movie can end with a happy ending.
We are extremely happy that we – the team of Amalipe Center, managed to become part of the story of a Ukrainian girl. We thank the journalist Zdravka Maslyankova for contacting us to tell us the sad fate of the student. She is part of a group of 60 Ukrainians who live for free in a hotel in Gorna Oryahovitsa. It is time to congratulate the owner of the hotel, Mrs. Tsanka Dimitrova, who, in addition to opening its doors to refugees, provides them with Bulgarian language lessons and sports activities.
Among those who settled there was a 15-year-old girl, a complete orphan, entrusted to her teacher by the girl’s grandfather, who remained in Ukraine. The girl is studying economics, she is an excellent student. After we realized that she needed a distance learning device to continue studying online at her school in Zaporozhye before going to a Bulgarian school, we decided to give her a tablet – donated as part of the Campaign “Old devices for a new beginning”.
And while nothing can make up for the lack of her home when we met her and her teacher, their eyes warmed with gratitude. We are writing this to remind everyone that no help is too little or unnecessary. Intangible care in these terrible times means just as much. Refugees need not only living conditions but also acceptance, socialization and friendship. Let us continue to be human and help everyone as much as we can.
