Back-to-attendance scheme announced by the Minister of Health and the Minister of Education

Most of the Bulgarian students will return to the classrooms on April 12. This became clear after the Minister of Health and the Minister of Education announced how the scheme for returning to face-to-face training, which Minister Valchev had discussed with Roma teachers on the occasion of a meeting on the occasion of the International Roma Day, would take place the day before. Which classes will return to the classrooms when? How will the current school year end?

From April 12 the following will be trained:

  • all students from 1st to 4th grade;
  • all classes with only one class: in 501 schools the whole junior high school stage consists of less than 50 students. In them a class and a class coincide and for the respective junior high school class there is one class, and in most cases it is small or even merged. The situation is similar in 289 schools teaching middle school students. In them, the five high school classes teach less than 100 students. These schools are primarily in villages and smaller towns, but some of them are in some of the district towns. Students who study in a class that is unique for the respective class will be able to return in person on April 12 and thus end the school year if the epidemic situation does not worsen. Schools in which some of the classes have more than one class and another part of the classes – only one class, will be able to take advantage of the opportunity for face-to-face training of all classes with one class;
  • Students from 7th, 8th and 10th grade will return on a rotating basis from April 12. They will stay in the classrooms for two weeks, after which they will move to ORES again. In their place from April 26 will return present 5th, 11th and 12th grade. Their attendance at school will be three weeks, as one of them is practically busy on holidays. With a favorable development of the pandemic in May in the classrooms in their place will be 6th and 9th grade – from 17 May.

In this way, the elementary classes will be present most of the time of the past school year. The most damaged will be 6th and 9th grade.

As Minister Valchev pointed out at the meeting with Roma teachers on April 7, the Ministry of Education and Science does not plan to abolish HBO for 4th and 10th grade. Probably some of the questions about HBO and the topics for the 12th grade exams will be shortened.
