Educational mediators helping students in the summer
The educational mediators from Secondary School “St. St. Kiril and Methodius”, the town of Sredets, gathers children from both primary and higher grades who have difficulties
in several academic subjects. The mediators Bozhidar Atanasov and Karalain Kostova work with the students with the aim of successfully passing the exams in the subjects that are difficult for them. In addition, the mediators invent interactive games that are related to the subjects Bulgarian language, Literature and Mathematics. “Most of the students have difficulties with arithmetic and writing,” says mediator Bozhidar Atanasov. That’s why he decided together with his colleagues to gather the children who have these difficulties and work with them during the summer in order to have results in the next school year. Mediators are highly motivated to work through, even at a time when most are on vacation, so that instead of children wandering around the neighborhood aimlessly in the summer, they can deal with problems in writing, reading and arithmetic that will lead to good results for them in the next academic year. This motivates the educational mediators to continue working, because it makes sense for the children and for the community, shared Bozhidar Atanasov.
