Educational mediators participated in training on the topic: Human trafficking
On November 5, 2020, the Local Anti-Trafficking Commission -C. Tarnovo, together with CMEDT “Amalipe” organized an online training on “Trafficking in human beings”, which involved more than 30 educational mediators from across the country. The main goal of the training was the preventive activity with children, students and adolescents on the topic of human trafficking. In this regard, the fellow partners from the local anti-trafficking commission presented a presentation that explained the types of human trafficking, the reasons for falling into such criminal schemes, mechanisms for involvement and ways to prevent them. As a result, emphasis was placed on how important it is for older students to be informed about the specifics of this crime so that they can recognize risk situations and know where to seek help when needed.
Last but not least, a short video material on the trafficking of pregnant women for the purpose of selling their newborn children was presented at the online training, created and implemented on the initiative and project of the local anti-trafficking commission – Burgas and the Equilibrium Association. The video tells a true story about a family forced to sell their newborn child. Unfortunately, this form of trafficking is a specific and quite common form of crime in our country. The sale of babies from poor and especially socially isolated communities in Bulgaria is an increasingly used criminal way to tackle poverty.
All educational mediators who are in the network “Every student will be an excellent student” will be provided with the training materials. Their request was to use them in their daily work with students from the schools for which they are responsible, as well as in their field work in the Roma community.
CMEDT “AMALIPE” thanks the local anti-trafficking commissionV. Tarnovo that made the meeting with the educational mediators fruitful!
