National programme “Participate and change – the parent, an active partner in school life”

The national programme “Participate and change – the parent, an active partner in school life” is aimed at building a partnership of mutual trust, respect and tolerance between parents, teachers and students. Building a partnership between the parent, the school as an institution and the teacher as the person closest to the children in this period is essential for every child to be able to develop his or her potential.

With this national programme, for the first time, meetings with parents are to be held after parents have expressed an interest and on topics they have indicated in advance. For the first time, this national programme encourages schools to enter into agreements with parents which set out the obligations and responsibilities of the parties with regard to the good upbringing and education of pupils.

Beneficiaries of the national programme are state and municipal schools in the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria, which educate pupils in the primary and/or lower-secondary stage of basic school education (grades I to IV and/or grades V to VII).

The application documents shall be submitted to the registry of the Ministry of Education and Science within 35 days from the date of the letter with the outgoing number 9105-97/17.03.2021, by which the Ministry, through the regional directorates of education, notified the school principals of the application for the national programme.

Schools shall apply using the form published in the annex to the NP “Participate and Change – the parent, an active partner in school life”.

The national programme management team, appointed by my order, will review, evaluate and rank the schools within 60 days of the closing date for submission of the documents and will submit the funding proposal to me for the ranked schools. The list of ranked schools will be published on the official website of the Ministry of Education and Science under the heading “Programmes and Projects”.

The head of the NP “Participate and Change – the parent, an active partner in school life” is Mrs. Penka Ivanova, Director of the Directorate “Textbooks and School Documentation”. The designated contact persons are Georgi Dinev, Chief Expert at the Textbooks and School Documentation Directorate and Radostina Racheva, Chief Expert at the Textbooks and School Documentation Directorate.
