November 25 – International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women
November 25 has been declared International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. It was proclaimed as such by UN General Assembly Resolution 54/134 of 17 December 1999. In this regard, the Amalipe Center is organizing a week to combat violence against women, in which various initiatives can involve schools, educational mediators, activists, active youth, etc.
As early as 1981, activists from various organizations celebrated November 25 as a day against violence. This date dates back to the brutal assassination in 1961 of the three Mirabal sisters, political activists in the Dominican Republic, by order of Dominican dictator Rafael Trujillo (1930-1961).
Violence against women is “invisible” and often goes unnoticed because, out of fear for their lives, the consequences they or their children will suffer, and community shame, victims often do not report, testify or sue. carefully hide bruises and pain. Their human rights are being violated, and the fear that has overwhelmed them is an obstacle to their salvation.
November 25 is a day that is for all women who live in fear, endure daily physical and mental blows to their body and psyche, fight for normal treatment, existence, fight for their lives. Because violence is not selected according to race, age, principles, level of education. But it can be stopped, the victims can be saved, and those who have not been “touched” by it – to give them a model of behavior, weapons with which to become defenders of all others who feel alone in the fight your against the abuser. Because violence is not an individual problem, no woman is prevented from enduring it.
We must talk about violence – constantly, uncompromisingly, convincingly, until everyone begins to notice it (in all its forms and manifestations), react and accept as inadmissible its existence. The more we talk about the topic, the more small steps each attitude takes, the faster we will break stereotypes, gather strength and courage, stop feeling guilty for challenging it and just have the strength and courage to stand up and be myself.

This text will be different from all the others here.
This text will be as personal as it is general.
This text is for all women who live in fear; those who suffer daily physical and mental blows to their body and psyche. Women for whom home is Hell but do not know another home.
We are constantly talking about domestic violence everywhere, and it continues to lurk behind the doors of thousands of women. “Dry statistics” on this topic have never sounded dry to me. I’ve always been scared…
