Upcoming: Award ceremony for the winners of the student competition “My opinion matters for a united Europe” on April 11, Sofia

Amalipe Center organizes the awarding ceremony for the winners of the annual school competition it organizes. The event will take place on April 11 at 3:00 p.m. in the “History of the Book” hall of the National Library “St. Cyril and Methodius”, Sofia.

We are happy to note that the Amalipe Center’s initiative, started 12 years ago, has grown into a tradition that gathers the ideas and creations of young people from all over Bulgaria and presents us with their excitement and dreams. This year, the theme of the competition – “My opinion matters for a united Europe” – inspired over 100 participants to submit their written, video and visual materials. Their commitment and willingness to participate only underlines the importance of dialogue and interaction in a united Europe. They come from schools all over Bulgaria, which just shows once again that no matter where the children live, no matter what environment they come from and what ethnicity they are, they want to fight for their opinion and dreams. We believe that young people can contribute to the unity and progress of Europe with their ideas and visions. Young people have a key role in shaping the future of our European society and therefore we want their opinions and proposals to be heard.

The ceremony will also be available to watch live via Facebook Live streaming on our Center Amalipe page. During the ceremony, artistic materials of students from Dolna Banya will be exhibited, as well as 12 collages with drawings and documentary photographs in response to the language of hate, made by young people from the art workshop “Visual Arts: Street Art”, part of the Foundation “Youth Center Krug-Art movement Krug”, known by the shorter name Art movement Krug from Kardzhali.

On April 12th, as part of the prize for the older prize-winning students, the initiative “Ambassador of tolerance for 1 day” will take place. Winners of the competition will be received by the President Rumen Radev, the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, the Ministry of Education and Science; Embassies of the USA, France, Denmark, Spain, Belgium, India, Germany and Great Britain; Representation of the European Commission in Bulgaria and UNICEF Bulgaria.

In addition, training sessions on “fake news”, hate speech, how to respond to and report offensive content and other topics of interest will be organized for all participating winners on April 12th and 13th.

Expect information about all prize places soon after the ceremony here on our page.

Thank you to everyone who put all their creativity and heart into sending us wonderful, touching and thought-provoking material! We’ll be posting the best of them soon!
