Center Amalipe starts collecting signatures in the Petition for the Preservation of Educational Mediators!

Dear friends and supporters,

More than 940 educational mediators working in schools across the country are at risk of being left unpaid from 1 July 2023. The same fate could befall dozens of mediators working in kindergartens half a year later. We therefore appeal to you to support educational mediators!

During the difficult months of the Covid pandemic, they were the “living link” between schools/kindergartens and students and their families, going – at the risk of their own health – door to door to bring educational materials and/or help them engage in synchronous online learning. Today, hundreds of mediators still visit the homes of students at risk of dropping out every day and help schools and kindergartens to keep every child in their classrooms.

Unfortunately, the Ministry of Education plans not to continue from 1.07.2023. The national support programme for education mediators, which pays their salaries. Let us together express our support for the work of educational mediators and convince the MES and the Council of Ministers to continue the National Programme after 1.07.2023!

What can we do?

You can support educational mediators in two ways:

By signing the online petition at petticiq.com here:

2. By collecting paper signatures on a template provided by us, which you can download below and print. Please comply with the following requirements:

Petition to keep educational mediators

Dear Minister,

Dear Prime Minister,

Ladies and Gentlemen,

We urge you to do what is necessary to preserve the employment of educational mediators working under the National Programme “Support for Educational Mediators and Social Workers”, as well as under the Project “Active Inclusion in the Preschool Education System” after 01.07.2023 – so that the currently working mediators and social workers keep their jobs, and where necessary, more are hired! We also insist that you find a way for the salaries of mediators working in schools and kindergartens to be covered by the National Budget, without the need for them to worry every 6 months or 1 year whether their employment will be continued! Furthermore, we demand that the pay for these positions be increased and be more than minimum wage!

Educational mediators have shown unconditionally the need for this position since the time of the Kovid pandemic and distance learning. Back then, risking their own health and the health of their families, they were the primary link between schools/DGs and students/their parents. Daily, they went around to the families of the children and students who had to be distance educated, distributing printed learning materials and/or helping them engage in synchronous distance education. Thanks to their efforts, the difficult months of the Kovid pandemic were not missed by the students!
