Students from Dzhulyunitsa village with a message to their new Ukrainian friends

As we wrote earlier at the initiative of the student parliaments of the Network “Every student will be a winner” (created under the program “Every student will be a winner”, funded by the Trust for Social Achievement) we launched a campaign to support refugee children from Ukraine. As we believe that it is extremely important to spread the good, we will share all the initiatives carried out by the students within the campaign.

We start to present the activities of the Student Parliaments of the Network with the students from the United School “P. R. Slaveykov ” in the village of Dzhulyunitsa. They created their messages and cards in three languages, addressed to the Ukrainian children accommodated in Yastrebino. And here is what the students from Dzhulyunitsa shared with us:

“To the children from Ukraine: We, the students from the United School “P.R. Slaveykov” in the village of Dzhulyunitsa, we want to tell you: “YOU ARE NOT ALONE! WE ARE WITH YOU AND SUPPORT YOU! TO BE FRIENDS!” This message, written on beautiful cards in three languages - Ukrainian, Bulgarian and English, and addressed to 13 Ukrainian children, together with the poetry collection of Tsonyu Kalchev, we passed today, at the Annunciation, to our messenger and friend from the center “Amalipe” – Nelly Nikolova to take them to Yastrebino and hand them over together with our love and support! You are not alone, we are here with you!”

Here is the story of Nelly Nikolova, after visiting the refugees in Yastrebino: “There are moments when the emotion is so strong that it is difficult to find words to describe it. Today is such a day for me. I was asked by the children from United school “P. R. Slaveykov ”in the village of Dzhulyunitsa, to bring to Yastrebino their messages and gifts for the Ukrainian children there. You have to see the eyes of these people who have gathered a mixture of emotions – joy, sadness, hope, love, faith, gratitude…
This is only the first step towards their friendship, and I, as a messenger, will try to recreate the emotions and the shared joy in the bright eyes of the children.
And although for a moment the pain gave way to the shared joy… And the world smiled… “

The aim of the initiative is not to hold one-time activities, but to create connections and friendships between Bulgarian and Ukrainian children. We hope that during the campaign more students will connect with their peers, and later to meet live through exchange visits.
