Education With a Cause: Charity and Volunteering for the Benefit of the Community
CurrentEducation with a Cause: Supporting Young People on Their Path to University
The project “Education with a Cause: Charity and Volunteering for the Benefit of the Community” aims to support young people from vulnerable communities in successfully completing their secondary education and continuing their studies at university. Over a two-year period, 200 students, primarily in Grades 11 and 12, will receive scholarships, mentoring support, and opportunities for personal development and active participation in their communities.
Particular attention will be given to students who are motivated to learn but face financial and social challenges, live in small towns or villages or in families with limited resources, commute to school, or experience other circumstances that may put them at risk of interrupting their education.
However, the project is much more than a scholarship programme. At its heart is the idea of turning the support received into support for others. Scholarship recipients will regularly take part in volunteering initiatives, activities in schools and local communities, campaigns promoting education and Roma identity, and initiatives supporting other young people. In this way, the programme will foster not only educational achievement, but also the development of active, responsible, and engaged young people.
At the same time, the project will develop a sustainable fundraising model for education and university scholarships, enabling individuals, businesses, and donors to invest directly in the future of young people. The aim is to establish a mechanism that will continue to operate beyond the lifetime of the project.
The project is implemented by Center Amalipe in partnership with World Without Borders Association – Stara Zagora, New Road Association – Hayredin, Roma Academy for Culture and Education – Sliven, and BCause Foundation, with the support of the Trust for Social Achievement.
Duration: 24 months
Main target group: Roma students/students from vulnerable communities in upper secondary education who are motivated to continue their education and engage in volunteering activities
Planned number of students supported: at least 200
