PATTERN aims to contribute to preventing and combating domestic violence against Roma women in Greece, Bulgaria, Portugal, Spain, Romania and the EU. By raising awareness in Roma communities, informing women about their rights and available mechanisms to support and enable professionals to respond effectively to domestic violence, PATTERN will enable Roma women and improve their integration and full participation in society.
About the project:
PATTERN is a European initiative that aims to empower Roma women to recognize domestic violence, to be aware of the support mechanisms available and to act as leaders of change in their communities. At the same time, it aims to provide professionals with the necessary knowledge that will enable them to respond effectively to cases of domestic violence against Roma women.

How will PATTERN succeed?
PATTERN will contribute to preventing and combating domestic violence against Roma women in Greece, Bulgaria, Portugal, Spain, Romania and the EU by:
- Development of protocols that enable specialists to respond to domestic violence against Roma women in a comprehensive manner.
- Increasing the capacity of at least 350 Roma intercultural mediators and professionals in community centers / other local municipal services for domestic violence against Roma women.
- Capacity building of at least 100-150 Roma women on how to recognize and report domestic violence and act as leaders of change in their communities.
- Raising awareness in Roma communities to build healthy and egalitarian relations.
- Increasing access to knowledge / data on the phenomenon of domestic violence against Roma women.
What will PATTERN achieve?
- Development of protocols for domestic violence for Roma women;
- Improved capacity of 350 Roma intercultural mediators and professionals in community centers or other local municipal services for domestic violence against Roma women;
- Increased capacity of 100-150 Roma women on how to recognize and report domestic violence and act as leaders of change in their communities;
- Increased awareness of Roma communities to build healthy and egalitarian relations in order to prevent domestic violence
